Nero

Hi Dears,

Today, I brought You little, sweet sandvich-looking darlings, that you can find in all of the traditional confectioneries in Hungary.

When I was a trainee in one of them, for almost half a year, I filled thousands of these with jam. The fun part (which I think is the fun part) is to create the shells with the decorating bag, was always the professional's job, as that was the part where the neros could go wrong. Each and every neros should be the same size to look beautiful in a plate.

The other big challenge while baking it, is actually the baking time. One second you see them unbaked, in the next second they are burned.
If you ask any confectioners which product burns the most, they would answer the neros.

However, the customers love them, and so do we.
Why? After you fill them with jam, give them 2-3 hours (in the confectioneries they even give them 2-3 days to let them soften) and you will have the softest, and the tastiest  little sweet sandwiches of the World.

I don't really know why we have the 'Macaron craziness' everywhere, when we have a much more delicious sweet, yes if you like the colors, you can color this sponge, too. And yes you can use any kind of filling for this sweet, too, like ganache, cream, etc..

So, Neros I am cheering for You, to win over Macarons!!!

Cherry or Chocolate sponge cake

Hello Dears,
Look what a spongy, moist cake pieces I brought you today! :)

Sorry for not posting for a while, but if you work in hotel industry, you know weekends are on weekdays, and usually you get the two days separately, so I usually have a good sleep, do some household duties, watch some shows on TV, (of course recipe, food channels are the favorites of mine..) and the day is over...
But don't worry, I didn't stop baking, just I am a bit late with posting these.

+ We are in another project besides the usual, we are looking for cute, small flats with my fiance.
This will be our very first own property, so it's really exciting.
(And tiring also, but it should be, right?)

Now let me introduce a bit this cake. It is a tricky cake, as I hided mashed peaches in the cake batter. :) It made it extra tasty, and soft.
And even my boyfriend didn't recognize it, as he doesn't like any fruits in cakes.
(That was the reason I made the cake half chocolaty, and the other half  with cherries, because I do love them in pastries, so everyone could enjoy the cake)

Peach cake with marzipan coverage

Hi Dears,
So I'm back from our 3-day-long holiday, we were at Lake Balaton, as You might know it from our FB page (where we can meet almost everyday, come and join :) )
But, before that we celebrated my Mother's birthday, and I baked here a light, summertime Peach cake. I covered it with yellow marzipan, and decorated it with marzipan flowers that I cut out with my new flower mold fondant cutters.
(I ordered it from ebay, 4 pieces for just 1 dollar or so, and they make life so much easier, I love them. :) )

Sacher Cake with cherries

Hi Dears!
As I hinted before on our FB page, we have cake anarchy here... This is the third cake in a row, and let me tell you a secret... There will be a 4th coming soon! :D
Yes, there are way too many celebrations in my family during March...
4 name days, 3 birthdays...
This special Sacher Cake was my lovely Grandfather's. He doesn't like creamy cakes, he said he loved the cakes which he could bite  in the middle. So that's why Sacher cake with it's chocolaty sponge and jam in the middle is perfect for the occasion. And to enhance the flavors, I put cherries in the sponge, to make it a little bit lighter. Plus as a decoration on the top I used dried apricots, which were soaked previously in rum & milk. Yum! And of course I am mastering the Technic of making marzipan flowers, so this cake has a lot of them to be pretty. :D
If You would like to get the original recipe for Sacher, I already have that post, just click here.
Now let's see the preparation for this cake...

Sacher Cake with apricots

Hello Summer! :)

I wake up on the first morning of summer with a great smile on my face every year. I just love this season, and even if the weather is not so sunny, it always starts with a great happening, as my Mother's Name Day is on the 1th of June.

This year she wanted me to bake her a Sacher cake, so this yummy cake needed to happen. :D
This time I searched the original recipe from Vienna, and followed that, with a little change as I decorated it with apricots.
The cake is seriously yummy, with a lot of chocolate inside, it's worth to try! :D
