Pastry shop gingerbread house

Merry Christmas!

I hope you had a nice year in 2019, mine was quite eventful, I didn't have time to bake a lot, or explore new recipes as I was studying graphic design besides working, and doing my driving license. :)

But for Christmas, I can not resist, I am baking a LOT! :D

I started of course with gingerbread cookies, and my tradition to bake a gingerbread house for Hungary's biggest gingerbread village in Budapest. It is a free exchibition, held in the Bálna shopping mall, and volunteers like me bake the houses. Each year it is getting bigger, many families bake, and besides the adorable houses, famous and creative buildings are built as well, like the Big Ben, our Chain Bridge, Star Wars space ships, or in 2016 I baked the Gru's house. (Check previous years' review posts here) It will be open in January untill the end of February.

So, this year I baked a pastry shop with many happy customers. :)

The recipe was the same I used in all of my previous gingerbread cookies recipes.
Let's see the steps, and the final photos below!

Gingerbread-house village 2018

Hi Dears,
Christmas is on the corner, and it means only one thing --> we can eat as many gingerbreads as we can shamelessly, as we will start the diet, anyway on New Year's Day, right?
Oh yeah.
But now, I won't just eat them, I participated again, for the third time in a wonderful event here in Budapest, where we bake and share our own gingerbread houses. We place them together in an exhibition hall in the Bálna Shopping Mall, and we build a magical gingerbread-house village again. Every building has its unique style, and we can see fantastic ideas year-by-year. I am very excited to see this year's opening.
The exhibition will be open from 22-Dec until the end of February, except the days of Christmas, and on New Year's Day.
You can check their site here:
Here in the post I show my gingerbread house, and some sneak-peeks of the "placing-event" of the house.

Baking Gru's house with Minions

Hey! I wish you a Very Happy New Year

I hope you had wonderful Holidays, and if you baked like me the whole time,
I think we all wish to have a good rest now. :)

OMG last year it was a really busy season for me, (you could guess, that is why I haven't been posting lately) I changed my workplace, and I have a financial office job again, so baking got back to my hobby again...

But I still bake a lot, like every weekend, I even took some photos of them, just I missed to upload them, sorry. However, you can follow some of them on our Facebook page. ;)

I baked a lot for Christmas, too, lots of cookies, islers, linzers, gingerbread and yes... A Gingerbread house. A really special one, I baked Gru's house! :D

Gingy house project

Hi Dears,

So, I baked Gingerbread the first time of this year.
I know it is not even winter, yet, and You don't want to hear about Xmas yet, (do You?), but I have a deadline for baking a gingerbread house for the Advent season.

We will have a Gingy town, a complete town from gingerbread houses, in a big shopping mall in the centre of Budapest (in the Bálna from December 6). So, I participated in this event, and I have to give this house to the city, so all the children, families , and any passers-by can see our creations in one beautiful gingy town.
I am so excited to see my little house in a complete mini-town.

I brought You some pictures about the preparation, and of course I baked "normal" gingies as well. :D

Decorated Christmas Cookies

Merry Christmas Dears,
I hope You are feeling wonderful, and had a special Christmas this year.
We just had our 3rd big Christmas Lunch... (It's definitely not the time for starting a diet... :D )
As I mentioned before, this year, nearly all of my family members got a plate of decorated Christmas cookies from me. Here I will show the steps of the preparations...

Christmas whoopie cookie

Merry Christmas Eve to You! :)
Today I brought a nice Christmas stocking filling cookie idea.
It's tastes so Christmas-y, as it contains all the great spices and ingredients, that we use during the Holidays. Some examples: cinnamon, gingerbread spice mix, grounded walnut, candied orange peel, cocoa, caramel....Yum! :)
When You are ready, you can pack them nicely in a little bag, with more cookies, gingerbread, anything You like, like I did...

Chocolate bread - Christmas style

Hi Dears,
Christmas is almost here...
I don't know how You feel about it, but for me, December pasted really fast.
This used to be my favorite month of the Year , as I love preparing for the Holidays.
I always create something hand.made for my family.
Usually, a painted postcard, or a necklace, or I decorate a wooden box with napkin. Last year I edited photos and placed them on magic mugs. Do you know them? They are so funny, from the outside they look simple, 1 color-mug, but when you pour hot liquid in them, the pictures will be shown.
This year, as I'm in the confectioner industry I will create many.many cookies and sweets and pack them nicely.
But now, I brought You a special Christmas dessert
This time, here in Hungary the Fruit-bread is really popular, which tastes like a pound cake with dry fruits in it, just the shape is different.
My family doesn't like dry fruits. What do they like? Chocolate of course!
So, I created a special version of the sweet bread.

Advent crowns made with gingerbread

Hi Dears,
Are You prepared for the Holidays? :)
I still need to bake a couple of things, like more Beiglis, some snow crescents, Chocolate roll etc...
But I baked these Advent crowns a while ago, to decorate the dining tables of my family members. I baked 6 different crowns.
I hope You will like them as well.
As for me, I always loved creating home-made presents. They are cuter and more personal. And this one is easy as well, only You need some free-time, a few hours.

Smiley Natural Christmas fragrance - Orange~men

"All I want for Christmas...." besides You, is smelling the orangy, spicy fragrance of the Punch, with the mixture of the freshly baked cookies... :)

I created these sweet gifts for my family members, with lots of great spices. I love all of them, like the cinnamon, the cloves, the star anises and the laurel leaves. Pricked in the oranges they create a really nice fragrance... And the cloves are really useful for nails for the leaves.

I decorated them with some rosehip and apple decorations.  :) Let's see the babies...

Confectionery studies - 9th week

Dear Readers,
Sorry for not posting lately, but as I am working now in a real confectionery I am more and more busier as time is getting closer to Christmas. We have sooo many orders, like last week we baked for a 6000 members event, which means thousands kilograms of cakes and savory scones to prepare.

But at school we continued our studies as well, on the 8th week (unfortunately I left my cell at home, so no pictures) but we learnt the basic sponge cake recipes.

That means, that the next week we started the real cake factory duties. :)
So I brought many-many tasty and beautiful cakes this time!

Beigli

Hello Dears,
I brought You a real Christmas treat, the walnut Beiglis, that is one of the most popular dessert here, in Hungary  in winter.
The dough and the stuffing is the same as the Walnut crescents, the "Pozsonyi kifli" dough, just the way of rolling is different.
Let's see how...

Hajnalka Creamy Cake

Hey Guys! :)
I hope You all right. I'm happy to post this cake recipe with You today!
I wasn't posting for a while... I was preparing for my biggest exam in my life. It will be in a week.
Cross fingers for me please! It will be my diploma exam! :)

So what about this cake?
This was the most delicious cake that I've ever invented!!! We had it for Christmas, but somehow I forgot my little note on this, and now I found it! :D
It has so many great ingredients in it, that I couldn't find a suitable name for it. Could be chocolate liquor creamy cake, but it has nut cream and jam as well, and coconut on the top, so it was hard to find a name for this marvelous piece of Heaven...

So, not to be too selfish, but as the most famous cakes of Hungary are named of their inventors, (like Dobos, Gundel, Rákóczi...) I named it after me. :D

Please enjoy the "Hajnalka Creamy Cake" , and bake it, if You would like to feel to be in Heaven   for about 3 seconds, till You eat the piece. :D

The most ... recipes in 2013

Hi Dears! :)
What do You think of evaluating years?
I usually don't do things like that, but since I'm reading the new Bridget Jones -Christmas present from my Mom, thank You ♥- she does this every single day, and of course at the end of the year, she does a big summery. So let's see mine:

For me 2013 was eventful.:
  • finished last semester in University
  • managed to participate in a 6-month-long trainee program in a 5-star-hotel
  • wrote my diploma work
  • moved in with my boyfriend♥
  • had a holiday in Lake Balaton
  • attended in a wedding celebration (first in my life)
  • baked many-many sweets and goodies
  • wrote this blog (greatest hobby, ever! :D )
So what about the blog's summery? I collected 13 different "MOST-ies",
/ if I can create a word like that :D /
that You liked, or I liked, or even the most unsuccessful baking project is listed! :D Come and check them!

Chocolate Creamy Cake

Happy New Year Dears! :)
I hope You had a memorable Christmas, with tasty goodies and cookies. :)
Now, as we are over the celebrations, and the big eating-parties, I started to work out. Haha... :D That's always my solution for the little extra weight I get during December. I can't do a diet... How can someone resist all these cakes ?
I think sport is enough to have a good shape. :)

So let's talk about this cake. I baked this for my last day at work, because I finished my trainee program. :) I was a receptionist  at Marriott from July, so it was a great half-year duty. It was interesting and fun, sometimes tiring, and complicated, but it was worth it. It gave me enough experience to get to know the hotel industry. Now I have to prepare for my diploma exam.
Please think and cheer for me at the end of the month! :D  And what shall I do after?
Let's see it then... :D
This cake was chocolaty, and inside it had 2 kinds of creams, one was pudding-like, the other was with self-made chocolate-liquor. :) Yum.
On the top and the bottom, there are two kinds of sponges.

Christmas checked Cookies

Hi Dears! :)
Christmas is only 1 week ahead, so I brought one easy hand-made gift idea: checked cookies!
In the end of the post I shared my little cutie cookie bags that I made for .... (it's a secret who will get those, maybe they read this article...) :D
Have a wonderful time, and don't forget to listen some Christmas carols while You are preparing something as a gift. :)
- I just found this country Christmas song, I love it! :D -

Apple Pie -2-

Hello Dears,
Sorry for my absence, I missed You and blogging, however I had tons of work to do... But luckily I finished my thesis for my diploma! :D
- picture of it at the end of the post -
So let's go back baking. :)
Here's another apple pie! :)  (this was last years).
This time it has a net decoration on the top. It's a little bit flat but it was really delicious! :)
♥○○○♥ It could be nice for the Holidays as well. :)  ♥○○○♥

Walnut Brownie

Hey-ho! :) How are You? Advent is coming soon! :D
I am so exciting. I love this season. Usually, I start to be in Christmas mood only in December, but the hotel is in full of Xmas decoration for about a week, where I work as a receptionist, so I decorated our room as well, a bit at home. :D
I can't wait to bake the gingerbread cookies, I would like to decorate them right now if I could. :)
Instead I baked this Brownie some days ago with walnuts, when I was busy, finishing my diploma work. So it's an easy, and fast recipe.
Let me praise myself, it was really good. :D

Layered Pancake CAKE

Hello! :) How are You?
I was in a romantic mood these days. Fortunately I got 2 days holidays that I could enjoy with my Love.

I planned to cook him a dinner, with dessert as well. The menu would have been Spaghetti Bolognese and this Chocolaty Layered Pancake CAKE.

However, my Honey put a really good movie on in the evening, and I couldn't leave it, so we watched it in the kitchen, while we made the dessert.
After the film, a little too late for dinner, I cooked the spaghetti as well, while he prepared our romantic dinner table with candles... And guess what... He put on a video of fire in a fireplace on the big TV, so as it would seems like we had a real one. It was funny, and actually it did brought a cosy atmosphere, so if You would like to have fireplace for any occasion go on youtube and have it! :D

Snowballs

Awh.. Sweet snowballs, a quick dessert without baking or cooking.

And such fun, to create little snowmen, too! :) Do you like snow?

Personally I love it when it falls, and it's great joy to go out and play with it and  with friends. Too bad I have only one week left of my 'after exams holiday' and the weather isn't snowy...  While I wasn't sledging I created this snowy dessert. Check it out! ;)
