Chocolate cake with marzipan



Yummy and soft cake with chocolate cream in the middle and marzipan on the top! :)

Ingredients:
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 T (tablespoons) vanilla sugar
  • 100 g margarine = 3,5 ounces
  • 150 g granulated sugar = 5,5 ounces
  • 1 T vanilla flavor
  • 1 t (teaspoon) rum flavor
  • 1 dl milk = 0,026 gallons
  • 0,5 dl sunflower oil = 0,013 gallons
  • 250 g flour = 9 ounces
  • 1 T baking powder
  • 2 T cocoa

  • 4 dl milk = 0,1 gallons
  • 1 bar of chocolate
  • 3 T sugar
  • 1 T rum flavor
  • 5 T flour

  • 500 g marzipan= 17,5 ounces
  • 1 bar of chocolate
  • 1 T sunflower oil

Preparation:
1.   Break the eggs, separately, the egg white from the yolks.
2.  Add 2 T vanilla sugar to the egg white and mix to get an egg foam.

3.    Add all the other ingredients from the first part to get the pastry. Mix well.(Melt the 100 g margarine,add 150 g granulated sugar,1 T vanilla flavor,1 t (teaspoon) rum flavor, 1 dl milk, 0,5 dl sunflower oil , 250 g flour,1 T baking powder, 2 T cocoa)



4.   Carefully blend the pastry with the egg foam.

5.    Oil a small baking tray with margarine and pour some flour, too, then pour the pastry into that.

6.   Bake it for about an hour, 150' C.(celsius)  /small flame/

7.    Heat 4 dl milk, melt a bar of chocolate, add it to the milk, and 3 T sugar, 1 T rum flavor, and blend them. Then, add 5 Tablespoon of flour, and mix them till it become to be a nice chocolate cream.



8.   Cut the sponge cake in the middle.

9.   Fill it with the cream. Then cover it with the other half.

   10.                     Roll out the marzipan to a baking paper. (Pour a bit icing sugar to the paper , before)

11.Put the marzipan onto the cake, then pull down the paper. Cut the marzipan parts, that are outside the cake.

12.                      Make balls from the cutted parts.
13.                      Melt the other chocolate, add some oil, mix them, stream it to a nylon bag, cut out the peak, and decorate the marzipan with the chocolate, as you like.  :)

  1. Hi there, your cake looks so amazing!!! I would love to try it but I'm having a little problem with the conversions and I have never used the metric system in baking. I wouldn't know where to start. I was hoping you would have some suggestions on the conversion or using the metric measurements. Thanks, Megan
