Pastry shop gingerbread house

Merry Christmas!

I hope you had a nice year in 2019, mine was quite eventful, I didn't have time to bake a lot, or explore new recipes as I was studying graphic design besides working, and doing my driving license. :) 

But for Christmas, I can not resist, I am baking a LOT! :D

I started of course with gingerbread cookies, and my tradition to bake a gingerbread house for Hungary's biggest gingerbread village in Budapest. It is a free exchibition, held in the Bálna shopping mall, and volunteers like me bake the houses. Each year it is getting bigger, many families bake, and besides the adorable houses, famous and creative buildings are built as well, like the Big Ben, our Chain Bridge, Star Wars space ships, or in 2016 I baked the Gru's house. (Check previous years' review posts here) It will be open in January untill the end of February.

So, this year I baked a pastry shop with many happy customers. :) 

The recipe was the same I used in all of my previous gingerbread cookies recipes.

Visiting the Ice cream Exhibition

Hello! 

Spring is finally here, that means ice cream season starts as well. :) 

And to start it in a glamorous way the biggest ice cream exhibition was held for 3 days in Budapest. 

As a confectioner trainee I felt it's my duty to be there.

(And let's face it who wouldn't have gone to taste the new ice cream creations of the year? :D )  So I visited it with my fiancé. 

I brought You my little review of the event and more than 30 tasteful pictures of it! 

3 cakes with one sponge

Hello Dears! 

I hope You enjoyed the summer, to finish it nicely I brought not just one, but 3 cakes for You! :)

As for us, we had our late-summer vacation last week, for 4 days.

It was short but we filled it with very-many adventures. :) 

It rained for two days, but we still could go sight-seeing, and to bathhouses, and we even took a little fairy train ride in the forest, so it was super joyful.

When we arrived back home, a birthday party was ahead of us, with 3 birthdays to celebrate, so I jumped in a baking project again.

As we hold it as a pic-nic party in the Margaret-island, I tried to prepare them to be easily take-aways. 

I used one main mixture, and as a last touch I flavored them differently. :)

Visiting the Chocolate Museum

I have been to a Chocolate Museum, and I can tell You it was like Heaven! :) 

We tasted so much chocolate, that usually I never consume half of that amount in a month, but since You are there, You just can't resist any of them.

Gastro-programs in Spring

Hey Guys! :)  I hope You all enjoy the week-end, unfortunately the weather makes that a little bit harder...


But spring Will come, someday, but the programs and festivals are surely coming! :)

Here are a bunch of them for You. If You come here to visit our little country, You should pop in to one or two gastronomic festivals, too, to feel the spirit. :)

Gluttonous Thursday - discounted prices in restaurants

This is a common tradition here, for 8 years, many-many restaurants accepts to be in a program, for 1 day in a year, they offer their menu, and plates for half prices. Cool, hah? Of course You need to register earlier to get a seat, because it's a popular event, but it's totally worth it.

This Year it will be on the 31th of January 2013, because the regular date will be too close to Valentine's Day which also a popular date for restaurants. 

Coconut muffins

These little sweet muffins are so delicious! And easy  to make. :) As easy, that I baked it right after waking up, half asleep. I just wanted to bake something for my sweetheart for our one-day-long trip to the mountains. The trip was awesome, Budapest is really pretty when it's snowy, and the muffins were tasty, too. Great combination! :)

Visiting the biggest Christmas fair in Budapest

I've visited the Christmas fair in Vörösmarty square last night. I was curious about it, I like visiting it every year, it always brings me the Christmas spirit, and this time wasn't an exception, either. So let's see what shall we find there this year! :)

This is the 14th time, that this fair is organised, so we can say, that this is quite a new custom here. Originally this came from Vienna, especially from queen Maria Teresa, who has the first Christmas tree in our country.  But every time it's worth going and looking this fair, the atmosphere is fantastic. :)

Tram 2 - among the 10 most beautiful tramways!

According to the new book of National Geographic - Tours of a Lifetime 2012 - travelers selected the 10 most beautiful tramways of the WORLD! :)

Our favourite tram, Tram number 2 is the 7th in the list! :) 
We are really proud of it, I think that it worth the title. I'm travelling by that every single day when I go to my University. 

When You travel by that , You can see the Danube, with the view of one of the UNESCO World Heritage - the riverbanks with the Castle of Buda, the Gellérthill, the Matthias church, and the Pest side, where it circulates , the Academy of Siences, our biggest hotels -Gresham Palace, Mariott, Inter Continental... And the last but not least the Paraliment (the  second biggest Parlaiment of Europe, the first is in Great- Britain)

I love it the most at night, with the manifique lights.

What is even prettier than that?
The Christmas Tram 2 - with extra decoration! It's like a dream! :)
