Little Donuts

This is CARNIVAL Season, so it's time for baking Donuts! :)

I made these little sweet bites some years ago, but it's still one of the favourites at home.

Well, You just need a frying pan, 2 hours, and some ingredients! I hope my photo brought the motivation. :D

Ingredients:

  • 350 g = 3/2 cups of flour
  • 1 tbsp of yeast
·          3 yolks
·          10 cl =  2/5 cups of milk
·          60 g = 1/4 cups of margarine
·          30 g granulated sugar
·          1 lemon peel
·          1 pinch of salt
·          oil (half a litre for frying)
·          20 g icing sugar = 1 tbsp of icing sugar – to the top
·          peach jam -in the middle

Preparation:

1. Activate the yeast in warm sugary milk. (it takes about 10 minutes)

2. Mix the yolks with the rest of the sugar, add the melted margarine. Rasp the peel of the lemon to it.

3. In another bowl measure down the flour, add the milky yeast to it, and the other pastry with the yolks too. Add a pinch of salt, then mix them well.

4. Put the pastry to a warm place (to the radiator, for example) covered, leave it for about 30 minutes.

5. Roll it out, the pastry should be softer now. And use a little circle shaped cutter, and cut out the donuts.

 6. With your finger, make a hole in the middle (but You don't have to punch it entirely , just a bit.

7. Heat up the oil in the frying pan. (You have to use a lot oil, the donuts have to "swim" or levitate in that)

8. Put some donuts in the warm oil, up side down. Then place a topper to it. Cook them for about 1-2 minutes.

9. Uncover them, then turned them and cook the bottom side for 1-2 minutes too, then take them out.

10. Repeat this some time. :)

11. Place them to a serviette.

12. Sprinkle them with icing sugar.

13. Fill their holes with peach jam.

Enjoy! :D It's my favourite winter-time dessert! :) Yumm...
